Tether is referred to as a stablecoin. Because stablecoins are backed by fiat currency, they are less volatile than Bitcoin or other altcoins like Ether. Tether is the most powerful stablecoin in the crypto world, ranking fourth in terms of market capital at $100 billion. At 73.57 at the time of writing, it is substantially cheaper than Bitcoin and Ether. It's built on the Ethereum blockchain.

Can it outpace Bitcoin?

Tether has previously outperformed Bitcoin. Tether rose to prominence in December 2020, when it surpassed Bitcoin as the most widely traded crypto coin on the planet.
